Who’ll save Naija? Look in the mirror.

March 5, 2010

Hat tip to Dr Abati for this article. This is real clear politics, devoid of his signature ribaldry and cynicism. The Punch also deserves credit for yesterday’s editorial.

Move over politicians and militicians, civil-society has taken the front seat. Chuck all ethno-religious differences; Nigeria is in a flux, without institutions to steer it.

PS. History 101:

As soon as the British committed themselves to handing over power, Nigeria politicians concentrated their attention on the pursuit, acquisition, sharing and exercise of power, pushing all notions of nationalism and nation-building [national integration cultivated through language, culture and the intellectual effort of writers, historians etc] into the background.
